At the widest aperture I was able to take picture in low light. The aperture ring click on each stop with little effort. But it's all mental construction, very solid and sturdy. The exterior shows some wear on the black finish. I need to scale down the brightness slightly because I don't have UV filter on the lens. The histogram show the exposure were very reasonable. I am able to adjust the aperture, shutter speed to obtain proper exposure.

After I set the WB, ISO on the menu and adjust the focus. I mount this lens on my Sony NEX 5N with an adapter.

I bought the Leica Leitz 50mm f/2.0 Lens to learn the photography in manual focusing, aperture setting and shutter speed adjusting. They also deliver that classic look while forgoing distortion, allowing these Leica lenses to deliver a unique look and feel while still giving you the sharpness and focus you want to see in your best shots, while their compact and sturdy build make them perfect for travel photography. Even wide open, the Leica 50mm f/2 lenses are stunningly sharp, with realistic colors that seem to come alive on film. These lenses are compatible with most Canon cameras with a Leica mount, and they produce professional-looking photos with vivid colors. With its reliability and durability, the Leica SUMMICRON-R 50mm f/2 MF lens offers the features needed to make it an ideal addition to your photography gear. There are two versions of the 50mm lenses available, one made in Germany and one made in Canada, though performance is about equal between the two types. The Leica SUMMICRON-R 50mm f/2 MF lens has a 45-degree angle of view, one that is closest to the version provided by the human eye, and is ideal for both close-ups and for broader shots. Wide open, the 50mm lenses produce a glow throughout the shot, which gives it a look that some photographers believe is distinct to Leica lenses. When pushed to its widest aperture, these lenses do produce some soft corners, though this sharpens admirably once the aperture has been reduced to f/4 on. It has a minimum aperture of f/16 and a filter size of 55mm. This 50mm f/2 Leica lens produces vivid colors and sharp contrast, as well as lovely bokeh for the close-up type of shots. Its light weight and compact build make it easy to tuck away and take with you on your travels. Despite its small size, these lenses are remarkably hardy, with a barrel, focus rings, and aperture all constructed of solid metal.
